May 1915,
Springfield Armory was authorized to manufactured 6000
models for the Philippine Scouts. Some 3,200 were manufactured in 1916
and another 2,804 in 1917. The Springfield Arsenal kept two, Rock Island
Arsenal received 202. The remaining 5800 were shipped to the Philippine
Islands. Today, very few have survived.
Estimated 50
complete models known today.
The unique scabbard is canvas covered with a medal tip.
There is a canvas strap for attaching to a belt.
There are very few scabbards in existence today.
