1976 to 2009 - United States War Memorial
1991
- ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
THESE
PICTURES SHOW A SCRAP-BOOK CREATED BY A LOCAL GENTLEMAN DURING
OPERATION
DESERT STORM. HE TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO WRITE LETTERS AND SEND
GOODWILL PACKAGES TO THE MEN AND WOMEN FIGHTING DURING THE FIRST GULF
WAR.
HE TOLD ME , HE DIDN'T ADDRESS THE LETTERS OR
PACKAGES TO ANYONE SPECIFIC,
JUST TO THE U.S. SOLDIERS STATIONED IN KUWAIT AND SAUDI ARABIA.
HIS RESPONSE FROM THE SOLDIERS WAS UNEXPECTED AND OVERWHELMING.
THEY
WERE SO VERY GRATEFUL.
LETTER AFTER LETTER THANKING HIM FOR HIS THOUGHTS, HIS
TIME AND HIS PRAYERS.
THIS GENTLEMAN'S
EFFORTS TURN OUT TO BE A LIFE-SAVER FOR MANY POOR AND HELPLESS
ANIMALS WHO SUFFERED DURING THE WAR.
THROUGH HIS CORRESPONDENCE WITH A YOUNG SOLDIER STATIONED IN
THE THEATER,
HE LEARNED THERE WAS NO FOOD FOR A
LARGE NUMBER OF ORPHAN DOGS AND CATS.
HE WROTE TO ALPO AND EXPRESSED THE SOLDIERS DIFFICULT SITUATION AND
CONCERNS.
I'M
HAPPY TO SAY "ALPO CAME THROUGH" AND SENT THE MUCH NEEDED FOOD
&
MEDICINE.
JUST GOES TO SHOW ONE PERSON CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE .
THE ALBUM IS COMPLETED WITH
NEWSPAPER ARTICLES OF THE WELCOME HOME
CELEBRATION IN CARLISLE, PA.
I'M PROUD TO KNOW THIS NEIGHBOR, FRIEND AND KOREAN WAR VETERAN.
